Mark Herbert Strong

Mark Herbert Strong, age of 27 years, 11 months, and 12 days, passed away January 21, 2011, at his home in Oakland, Iowa.

He is the son of Herbert James and Carol Ann (Markytan) Strong. Mark was born Feruary 9, 1983, in Council Bluffs.

Mark is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Evelyn Strong.

He is survived by his parents, Herbert and Carol Strong, of Oakland, Iowa; his sister, Emily Sue Strong, of Council Bluffs; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Elaine Markytan, of Columbus, Neb.; his two aunts, Mary Fisher and husband, Dennis, of Greer, S.C., and Joyce Steffensmeier, of Columbus, Neb.; his cousins, John, Amanda, Sarah and Eric; and his fiance, Nicole Zimmerman. Mark is also survived by many other family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avoca, Iowa. Open visitation will be held at the Oakland Community Building after 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday evening at 5 p.m., at the Oakland Community Building followed by visitation with the family until 8 p.m. Interment will be held at the Oaklawn Cemetery at Oakland. A memorial fund has been established.
