Tyra Lynn Hackett Schiess passed away at St. Mark's Hospital on Saturday, April 22, 2000, due to respiratory failure.
Tyra was born on March 10, 1943 at St. Mark's Hospital in SLC, UT to Richard and Wray Opperman Hackett. She married Jack J. Schiess on October 6, 1961, in SLC, UT. In recent years Tyra's health was failing but she maintained a wonderful attitude and was still able to take many fun trips,

including her favorite: Yellowstone and Teton Natl. Parks. Tyra loved all animals, especially her cat, Cocoa. She was a wonderful person who asked for very little and enjoyed life's simple pleasures. Survivors include her husband, Jack, SLC; aunts, Helen Brown Romney, Audrey Coleman Hackett, SLC; uncle, Charles Opperman, Everett, WA; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Wray Hackett; and sister, Shanna Wray Hackett Blake.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday April 25 at the St. Ambrose Parish, 2315 Redondo Ave. (2300 E. 1950 S.) in SLC. Friends may visit Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
